My first two days of solo teaching have been wonderful! We began our unit about change and "Earthkeepers". For the next couple weeks the children will be focusing on the 3 R's- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle and other ways they can have a positive impact on the environment. We went to the computer lab yesterday and watched 2 videos on the SmartBoard. The students requested for me to put the link on the blog! Practice the song at home... it is quite catchy (sorry!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKdZYYmTT9A
They started bringing in mystery objects and we discussed what category the object should go in. Riley brought in easter eggs to REUSE for easter next year and Lily brought in a RECYCABLE cup.

We have been reading and writing about character change through the Rainbow Fish books. We did a hands-on science experiment today regarding the negative affect littering has on animals. Poor Rainbow Fish!!

We also had a job ceremony and the students were presented with their new jobs that will help change our classroom. Each child has an individual bank and they will be keeping track of their balance on the back of the bank. I have many more hands-on lessons for the next 2 weeks- I can't wait!

You should be incredibly proud of your children. They are working hard and are well on the road to first grade. Stay tuned for more adventures!
